Announcement

Troop-
Due to a lack of interest in this blog, the site has now shut down until it has been passed on to my replacement as historian in our Boy Scout Troop. Our Varsity team might use it, too. However, if SOMEONE will actually visit this site, I will consider beginning to blog again.
Until forever,
-your historian

PS: I wanted to stop on 13 posts anyway, just for the sake of the number!

Cool Link

Hi all,
In order to fulfill a requirement on my Communications merit badge, I have to add a useful link to this page. So, I found the link to a company called Kirkham's Outdoor Products. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? I am actually related to the founders of this store in Salt Lake City. The website is www.kirkhams.com. They have their own brand of tent, called Springbar, which is designed to have near-vertical walls, so you have more room.

Remember to be at Avendale at 7:30 tomorrow for our Merit Badge Round-Up. By the way, I'd like to get a count of how many people check this blog, so please tell me if you have seen this article. Oh, sorry about the ads. Those are automatically put up by Google.

Joshua Tree and other anouncements

Welcome back from our long break, everyone, and here's the latest news. This Friday we will meet at the Cook home at 3:45 to leave for Joshua Tree. That is only 50 minutes after school ends, so you should probably pack the night before, or even before that. I don't have the official "what to pack" list, but here are my suggestions:
Sleeping bag (there are no cabins out here, folks)
Scout uniform
Scout book (NEVER leave it at home on a scout trip)
Duty to God booklet (we will be working in it on Saturday)
Warm clothes (we will be doing a long hike before breakfast, and it will be cold)
Camera (lots of amazing things to take pictures of out there)
Snacks for the car
Pocket knife (never go on a scout camp out without it, but make sure to bring your Totin' Chip)
First Aid kit (if you don't have one, make one! You can just settle for some different sized band aids in a plastic bag, and maybe a tube of neosporin. I have a great first aid kit, so if you need some pointers on making a good one, ask me.)
Journal (not necessary, but a wonderful thing to have with you)
A friend (this is a great missionary opportunity, as are all camp outs)

After we get back, we will all be doing the stomp dance from Road Show for the Ladera's Got Talent event. If you have forgotten, I would be happy to remind you how to do it. We also need to teach our new scouts how to do it.

In May, we will have the Merit Badge Round-Up, so if you have recieved your confirmation, get started on the prerequisites.

New-Year's Update

There will be no scouts untill the new year, and then we will plan out our campouts for 2010. More updates to follow. The positions in our troop will also be rearranging, since Alex has moved up. Therefore, this site may be in new hands soon.
Happy Holidays!
